I was the State treasurer in Maine, we know how this works when you have a moral obligation.
There are some folks in this town, not me, who are floating an idea of taxing municipal bonds.
We need to make sure we continue to give our States and cities and towns across America a very low-cost way to borrow money.
Here is what I worry about, Mr. Chairman, is that we have a potential here of so over-regulating the people who provide good advice to our small savers in this country that you are driving away that advice.
We do not want to over-regulate our small savers such that they lose the ability to plan for their retirement.
We do not have a government unless we have tax revenues. Let us juice the tax revenues, right? It helps everybody.
