Question 3 is about making sure that Marylanders are in charge of our democracy and not Washington, D.C. and not [Republican President] Donald Trump.

This is exciting, because up until this moment, I was the only Black governor in America. And I was very clear that that's a title that I did not want to hold onto for very long.

It is the greatest honour of my life to serve as your governor and I am thrilled to continue working alongside Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller to finish what we’ve started and keep building a Maryland that leaves no one behind.

I'm only the third African American ever elected governor in the 250-year history of this country, and, now, in one cycle, we have at least doubled that number. I just think it's incredibly important. It's a historic moment.
