Steny Hoyer: “The rule of law depends on a judiciary that is properly funded.”

As we reflect on these accomplishments, we are reminded that the fight is not over.

I look forward to working with my colleagues to reach agreement and pass robust and bipartisan sanctions legislation. We must send the strongest possible message of American support as Ukraine defends democracy against despotism.

This bill would impose the toughest sanctions we can on Putin’s inner circle, Russia’s oil and gas oligarchs, its shadow fleet of oil tankers, and its financial sector – all of which have sustained Russia’s war machine.

Americans deserve to have Congress focus on the issues that matter, not litigating conspiracy theories from the pandemic.
