I look forward to working with my colleagues to reach agreement and pass robust and bipartisan sanctions legislation. We must send the strongest possible message of American support as Ukraine defends democracy against despotism.

We must ensure that Ukrainians have every tool needed to see this war to victory. In doing so, we keep the faith with Ukraine and with international law.

Both bills ought to become law.

For more than four years, Ukrainians have courageously defended their free democracy against Russia’s determined effort to stamp it out and impose despotism on its people.
