The gentleman is very generous. The irony, as I pointed out, Mr. Speaker, is that in the pay-for that they have used, CBO scores that as a $12.5 billion increase in the debt, not a decrease. The reason for that is, it cuts $28 billion, essentially, that we would otherwise collect and that we spend $14 billion of that, so there is a net $12 billion plus remaining to add to the deficit. I understand and I agree with the gentleman that the debt is important. We need to deal with it. I agree with his observation that our defense officials see that as a clear and present danger to our country. We need to deal with it. I suggest respectfully to the gentleman that the offset does not accomplish that objective.

We have less than 10 hours left until we go home for the holidays, less than 10 hours when we leave the field, and less than 10 hours before we act responsibly. The men and women of Ukraine will not go home for the holidays. They will not…
I demand a recorded vote. The Acting CHAIR. Pursuant to clause 6 of rule XVIII, further proceedings on the amendment offered by the gentlewoman from New York will be postponed.
We leave today a day early. We essentially have 4-day weeks. That is, 25 percent of the work that we were planning to do, we are not going to do. We leave, I think, because we either can't do our work or we won't be allowed to do our work…
This is another unserious amendment. We have had over 50 of these. Every one that has been put to a roll call vote has lost, and this one will, as well, I hope. Mr. Chair, I reserve the balance of my time.
