I welcome this hearing. I hope that Congress will follow the recommendations of numerous authorities and approve reducing this ratio.

I continue to be concerned that we spend billions of dollars on weapon systems only to change the underlying requirement and terminate the program.

Be very careful when you hear somebody say we have so many years of something at current use rates, because our economy is growing, our use of energy is growing.

If we could cut the trade deficit in half, we could increase U.S. GDP by a very sizable amount, and create about 5 million jobs.
