But one thing we have come to understand and we probably could have understood in the moment with the opioid crisis if we hadn't, in effect, had the wool pulled over our eyes by an industry with very effective marketing techniques, is how a whole industry can either affirmatively be trying to encourage dependency on their product or at a minimum turn a blind eye to alarming trends that are happening that they know are happening and look for sort of plausible deniability about their own responsibility.
