Yesterday’s consultation reinforces our sense that the Administration has turned America’s traditional refugee program into a whites-only airplane ride for South African Afrikaners into Trump’s America.

This is a naked power grab by a historically unpopular president—who himself regularly votes by mail—to inject confusion and chaos into our elections in a last-ditch effort to keep his party in power.

It is blatantly unethical under numerous federal ethics provisions proscribing the use of government resources for political campaigns.

When this time capsule is opened, future Americans will be reminded of the Free State’s many enduring cultural, scientific and political contributions to our nation’s history.
