Mr. Speaker, I rise before you in fervent opposition to the bill we are considering today. I have heard from many of my constituents and small business owners who are grateful for the benefits of this law. Children with preexisting conditions are no longer being denied access to private health insurance. Maryland small businesses offering health insurance to their employees are eligible for a 35 percent tax credit. Further, as ranking member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, I note that repealing this law would also eliminate the new private health plan currently providing coverage for many uninsured Americans with preexisting conditions. I find it repugnant that Republicans want to strip Americans of this law's protections that will save the lives of our fellow citizens. I urge a ``no'' vote on this bill.
