On the recordMarch 25, 2004
In the State of Maryland, almost every one of our schools that prepare young people for nursing are community colleges and our 4-year colleges have long waiting lists. They cannot accommodate, they do not have the resources to accommodate the students that are qualified. Yet and still, we have a phenomenal nursing shortage. That just boggles the mind: These young people who are prepared to work in a profession where there is a demand, and that is a major problem. Those are the kinds of things that we should be addressing, when we have young people standing in line to do what they have wanted to do for the last 10 years, and do not have the chance to be able to do it.
