“One last question. I will never forget when the President talked about the war in Iraq, when the President talked about the war on Iraq. I am sure you will recall one of the things that he said was that this war had been brought to us. I shall never forget it. I was sitting in this Chamber. And he said to us we need to take this responsibility so that our children and our grandchildren would not have to address it. And it sounds like what the gentleman is saying is that at least in part this war will have to be paid by our children and our grandchildren, at least, if not our great grandchildren because of the way things are going. The other issue is this: one of the things we hear over and over again from the President is that he keeps talking about, saying that this side of the aisle wants to increase the taxes on Americans. And basically what he is saying is that if we do not extend and make these tax cuts permanent, that is like increasing taxes on Americans. That is a very interesting way to put it. I just want to know what you thought.”
