The job of a U.S. ambassador, and their staff, whether a political or civilian employee, is to defend and protect U.S. interests.

We must hold them to this standard and hold a hearing to determine what the Department knows, as well as request the original report written by embassy staff on the status about these killings.

We must not forget that a federal judge has already made clear what we have long known: the Trump Administration’s Department of Justice is engaged in a vindictive prosecution against Kilmar.

While today’s hearing did not proceed, the Trump Administration continues to desperately try and ship Kilmar Ábrego Garcia to a faraway country and deny him of his constitutional due process rights.
