one additional question, if I might ask at this time. The Senator pointed out--and rightly so--that there is no one problem we have to deal with, there are multiple issues involved. I have heard some of my colleagues say, well, the problem is not the weapons they use or the problem is not the social issues or the problem is not this or that, but I would ask this of my friend from Connecticut: It seems to me the one option that should be off the table is doing nothing. It just seems to me that the American people are demanding--and rightly so--that we take action now to make our communities safer. Quite frankly, they don't understand the inaction of this body. Quite frankly, I don't understand the inaction of this body. Would my colleague agree that the only option we should take off the table in trying to deal with this is doing nothing?
