“This debate is about allowing every American to be able to tell their children that when they get sick, they will have an opportunity to see a doctor. It is about a small business owner who should not have to choose between insuring his employees or maintaining his workforce or expanding his workforce. It is about our seniors having to decide whether they can take a pill or have to split that pill because they fall within the doughnut hole and cannot afford prescription medicines. This debate is about whether we are, as a nation, going to be able to bring down the growth rate of health care costs and guarantee that every American has access to affordable health care and also bring down our budget deficit in health care, which clearly we have to do in this Nation.”
