I join with the Senator from New York, Mr. Schumer, in giving a tribute to our dear friend, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. How special it is today that, as she gave her farewell speech, we are literally within minutes on the brink of a vote to proceed to the Lilly Ledbetter bill. Senator Clinton has been a champion for women, a champion for the opportunity of women, and was the lead on introducing the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. How terrific it is that as she gives her last speech on the Senate floor, we will be voting on something for which she has been a champion. She has been a champion for women both here and around the country, for their economic security, their health security, and also for women around the world, both in her work as First Lady and here in the Senate, whether it was to make sure to work with our current administration to have access to education for Afghan girls, but also as First Lady with the women of the world to make sure, through her project, Vital Voices, women had those voices. She has been a champion all of her career. Whether it was at the Legal Defense Fund, as First Lady, or now as a Senator of the United States, she has always made sure she has stood up for those who had no voice, and she has used her voice to speak for them. That is what we know she will continue to do.
