I rise today in very strong opposition to any attempt to repeal the health care reform bill. The Republican leadership has offered an amendment to repeal the Affordable Health Care Act. They are only keeping half of their promise. They went out there and campaigned--and the tea party had a teapot boiling over--and they said: We are going to offer a bill to repeal and to replace. Guess what they are doing today. One more hollow, symbolic, pander-to-the-masses amendment. Their amendment offers a repeal, but it does not offer a plan or strategy to replace. Do you know why? They have no ideas. They just want to pander to the crowd. I want my colleagues to know that I am emphatically and unabashedly against the repeal of health care reform. But I want to say to my colleagues, as I listened to this colloquy, every Senator has the right to rewrite legislation, but they do not have the right to rewrite history or to rewrite the facts.
