John Fitzgerald Kennedy: “So we want you to know, Your Highness, that we are very proud to have you here; we are delighted to have you here.”

We are proud to have them here also because they are a Scottish Regiment, and that green and misty country has sent hundreds and thousands of Scottish men and women to the United States and they have been among our finest citizens.

I think that is a very good motto for some of the rest of us.

I think it would be unwise to attempt to negotiate it out here.

I regard it as serious.
