What Barack Obama very much needs now is a Jack Welch-type figure to come in and to run this stimulus program and especially to oversee the spending side.
This is a man who has very, very large ambitions to change the world, to remake America, remake the world.
This is a time when there's great weakness in political leadership both on the Palestinian side where the leadership is fractured between the West Bank and Gaza.
He's trying to appeal to the moderates in the Arab and Muslim world. He's trying to rally them and then isolate Hamas, Hezbollah, Al Qaeda as best he can so that he can overwhelm them politically.
They cannot allow this kind of stuff to creep into bridges to nowhere to creep into this stimulus package.
I think they're having a very hard time sorting that out. But in appointing these two envoys today, I think they made ideal appointments.
