The text of the amendment is as follows: At the end of subtitle C of title VII, add the following new section: SEC. 725. TICK-BORNE DISEASES. Using funds authorized to be appropriated by this Act or otherwise made available for fiscal year 2018 for the Defense Health program, the Secretary of Defense may authorize grants to medical researchers and universities to support testing ticks for the purpose of improving the detection and diagnosis of tick-borne diseases. The Acting CHAIR. Pursuant to House Resolution 440, the gentleman from Massachusetts (Mr. Keating) and a Member opposed each will control 5 minutes.
