To anyone who seeks to mislead the public and to use the court's harmful measures to gut essential relief, take a seat. The people deserve and demand this relief. Mr. Speaker, I urge my colleagues to vote ``no.''

This is modern-day redlining.

This LLPA framework does disproportionately impact consumers of color, and so I am glad that you are looking at this so that we can eliminate these structural barriers to affordable housing.

There was a report, 'The Color of Wealth in Boston,' put out by the Federal Reserve in Boston which states that the average wealth for a Black Bostonian family is $8, and that of a White family is $247,500.

It is really unconscionable that this committee, under the Republican Majority, has declined to prioritize housing and homelessness in the 118th Congress.

I still believe that the FHFA needs to go further and fully eliminate these harmful fees which put homeownership out of reach for everyday people, especially Black, Brown, and low-income homebuyers.

I believe that has everything to do with homeownership.

I am of the opinion, as are many of my colleagues on this side, that reinstating the Dodd-Frank regulatory requirements on mid-sized banks, that were rolled back in 2018 by Republicans, is really critical.

The American people deserve accountability. That includes clawing back bonuses, and investigating you for gross negligence, malpractice, and greed.

Today's hearing was still necessary because this tragic, avoidable sequence of events demands accountability.

I am really okay with that. Personally, I am good with you being uncomfortable because my constituents in the Massachusetts 7th District were very uncomfortable when SVB collapsed.

The swift government intervention to insure all deposits and prevent a systemic crisis showed us once again that the profitable business of banking is deeply intertwined with public interest.

The way it would work is simple. The Federal Government would receive a unique share in large banks that are considered systemically important.

If the American public is going to suffer the consequences of poor corporate governance, then maybe it is time for the American public to have a seat at the table.

For too long, banks have been content, really, to chase profits irresponsibly and then to turn to the government to bear the risk when they collapse.

The golden share proposal would allow an appointee on the board of large banks to safeguard the public interest.

You know, there needs to be unrest in the streets for as long as there's unrest in our lives.

Donald Trump encouraged violence against protesters at his rallies, saying protesters should be roughed up and that his supporters should, 'knock the hell out of them'.

What is new, though, is the extent to which the Republican Party has enhanced and embraced and encouraged violence, especially under the extreme MAGA cult of Donald Trump.

Families at home are hurting.

This is not the time to backtrack and to weaken regulations. Now is the time for action and to put people over polluters.
