It is critical that this work be survivor-led.

What we are is delayed, and these things do all show up in some way, form, or shape in our lives.

I want to talk about the criminal justice system.

We can't do them alone and so we have to be in partnership with those in our communities and it has to be community driven how these inequities play out.

There is no hierarchy of hurt, and I appreciate you are pushing for us to address this in a comprehensive way.

Hardship and trauma do not discriminate.

The best gift that we can give any child is a stable adult.

What we want to see in our school communities is a paradigm shift in culture where people will ask, what happened to you, instead of, what is wrong with you.

I have always taken issue with the term that children are resilient because I think it infers for people that they get over things.

I can say with certainty that it was a school nurse that saw the signs of trauma and abuse in my own life.

It is so important--I am sorry you have to weaponize your pain in order for this survivor tribe to be seen and to be heard but it is so critical that this work be survivor led.

Violence begets violence and trauma begets trauma, and so many families and communities like my own are passing along, unfortunately, the legacy of intergenerational trauma.

I thank Chairwoman Waters for her vigilance and her steadfast leadership in continuing to bring people together across the aisle on issues of consequence to the American people and always putting consumer protection at the center of that…

So, again, let's not lose sight of the plot, Mr. Chairman, and the plot is the American people.

I really do see a faster payment system simply as a public good, and the lack of action here creates a real void in the lives of consumers everywhere.

As the central bank in America, the Federal Reserve has a responsibility to speed up the process of clearing payments.

The Federal Reserve can do more to support the needs of hardworking American families.

It is important that when we have kids, we expect them to continue their education and go to college, but we don't have a means for them to be insured during that time.

One in four residents of my district benefit from the ACA's requirement that allows them to remain on their parents' plan until the age of 26.

This law has saved countless lives, and undermining it and attacking it puts the health and well-being of our Nation's families at risk.

The ACA has been for millions of families.

Before the ACA, women could be denied coverage for things like pregnancy, breast cancer, or treatment for sexual or domestic violence.

Healthcare is a fundamental right for all of us.

The courage of everyday people, who quite literally put their lives on the line.

These are human beings, not trout. Presenting yourself at a port of entry to seek asylum is exercising your right under international law.
