Despite the passage of the Fair Housing Act over a century ago, the National Fair Housing Alliance estimates that 4 million people in the U.S. still experience discrimination in housing each year.

Systemic racism must be met with intentional, decisive systemic solutions and Congress has to move with urgency to expand discrimination protections to include our LGBTQ+ neighbors and voucher holders.

One of the bills we are considering today, offered by my colleague, Congressman Al Green, would address this by increasing funding for Fair Housing Act enforcement.

The Democrats have been choosing the country and we are the party of the working class people.

White supremacy is a threat to every American and to our democracy. And Donald J. Trump needed to be impeached so that he is barred from running for public office ever again.

The reason why this insurrection could occur is because of the emboldening of the flames of white supremacy.

Child abuse, plain and simple. I don't know how they sleep at night knowing they employed someone responsible for this type of injustice.

He was, largely, responsible for implementing the zero tolerance policy and continuing to prosecute parents even after his own officials told him they could not provide basic information to courts about the separated families.

But healing also requires that we hold these individuals accountable who were the cruel masterminds behind these policies.

It is clear that the Trump administration officials knew full well the pain and harm they were inflicting with this policy.

I will never forget what I witnessed during our trip to the southern border, mothers who I held in my arms as they cried out for their babies and begged for help.

It is important that we never lose sight of the plot, and the plot is the people.

So that is why I am partnering with Representatives Tlaib, Ocasio-Cortez, and Neguse to introduce the Emergency Homelessness Assistance Act, to provide nearly $5 billion dollars in additional funding to support those experiencing…

The stock market may have recovered, but our communities have not.

These hearings are a critically important reminder that our work is not done.

What I know is that we have got to impeach and remove Donald Trump because he is a clear and present danger.
