We did our job on the contempt and I think it sends an important message. We're defending Article One and our authority for oversight and we have to do that.

This was an important step for the House to take.

We have to fight back and we will, with everything in our arsenal.

This is not retribution. This is about trying to reset the parameters into make the people trust our system again.

Listen, we are the rule of law party. Chaos is not a conservative value and we have to fight back and we will with everything in our arsenal. But we do that within the confines of the rule of law.

What happened there was outrageous, and you're right, the American people see it. This is a purely political exercise, not a legal one.

I do believe the Supreme Court should step in. I think that the justices on the court, I know many of them personally, I think they're deeply concerned about that as we are. So I think they'll set this straight.

But it has not been something that is easily provable.

This is a man who is clearly on a mission for personal revenge and who is widely known as a witness who has trouble with the truth. He is someone who has a history of perjury and is well known for it. No one should believe a word he says…

Of course not. It's absurd.

Maybe we should bring in the National Guard.

Now Congress is back tonight in Washington.

We have to stand unequivocally for the right and the good. And I'm calling on all my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to speak out against this.

The speaker of the House is -- has a very important constitutional responsibility. It's an officer listed in the Constitution.

When they shout down and physically threatened with intimidation and threats of violence the other side, that is not a peaceful expression.

This isn't a partisan issue. This is about right and wrong, and we've got to call it for what it is.

If they can't fulfill their basic obligations, I don't think the American taxpayers want to be funding this kind of thing.

It's so discriminatory. It's so wrong in every way. The responsibility of a university administrator is to keep peace on campus and ensure the safety of students -- job number one.

We should not be dictating to Israel their military strategy. We should be supporting our ally, which is the only stable democracy in the Middle East.

This is a battle, as Netanyahu said, Prime Minister Netanyahu said, between good versus evil, light versus darkness, civilization versus barbarism. This isn't a close call.

If you're getting endorsed by Hamas, that's not a good look. It's not a good sign.

This is not who we are as Americans. This is not an expression of the First Amendment. This is not an exchange of ideas. This is -- this is threats and intimidation of violence against Jewish students for who they are, for their faith.

I am here today joining my colleagues and calling on President Shafik to resign if she cannot immediately bring order to this chaos. Enjoy your free speech.

We have to treat every single person with dignity and respect, and that's not happening here and it's an atrocity.

If we turn our backs right now, the consequences could be devastating.
