U.S. business is under assault, and U.S. business needs tax relief.

What areas of the Code do you think we ought to focus on?

I think it is important to understand the real-life consequences of our tax policies.

And, look, anything we do is going to take Republicans and Democrats.

the Subcommittee will hold a hearing on Member proposals relating to fundamental reform of the income tax system.

We want to thank you guys for bringing these really important proposals forward.

If you like your tax you can keep your tax. If you want your life out of the Code, that is your decision.

It is abundantly clear that our current Tax Code is broken.

I think it is wrong-headed, and I think it will damage opportunities for seniors to get the best possible care.

I think it is an absolutely terrible idea for the Federal Government to start picking winners and losers in this area.

We have to make that case about this urgency.

I am sick and tired of the punitive measures being promoted on the other side against American business.

I want to express the same anger my colleague just expressed.

We have to win for the American worker, for the American people. It is time to act now.

That is why we need tax reform----

We have to make sure that these things are applied fairly, and----

We need a real 21st century energy strategy that is part of our broader economic strategy.

I condemn this crude oil tax in the harshest terms. I think it is the wrong diagnosis and the wrong prescription.

I don't think we should be taking the approach of punitive measures going after our American business that is trying to help grow this economy.

It is very draconian on these small businesses, and Secretary Lew admitted it was a problem last year.

Is the Administration going to eliminate this penalty or would you work with us?

I questioned Secretary Lew about this last year during the budget talks, and subsequently the Administration put this on hold for less than a year.

There has been so much uncertainty, but this is a very draconian penalty.

America is an exceptional Nation. And I think all of us believe that in our heart.

We simply can't compete. We have gone from being the global economic predator to the prey.
