So much of the last 14 months we've seen just the worst kind of politicization of a national emergency.

Special needs teachers in this country, certainly in my district in Kentucky, and I'm sure everywhere are some of the greatest heroes that I've ever been exposed to.

I think that's probably the reason that some businesses can't find employees is because they're not paying enough money.

It is bizarre to me that for that length of a period of time that republicans continue to raise issues that have no empirical support.

When really they have no basis for saying that. It's all speculation.

I think a better solution would be to empower this very Committee to fulfill its responsibility in the government funding process.

I view it as a reclaiming of the power of the purse and, therefore, a very positive affirmative act.

I certainly can't imagine that it is constitutionally denied.

My view has always--I was stunned by that. My view has always been that the constitutional argument ran in the other direction, that there was something very questionable about this kind of arbitrary denial of the power of the purse.

We will respect that process as we respected it in prior occasions.

I think this is a very important discussion.

My colleagues and I on this Committee have demanded a hearing on the Administration's constitutional abuses, the violation of U.S. law, and unjust pause on border wall construction.

The Republicans want States and localities to have control over things when it serves their political purposes.

Both President Biden, and I know Speaker Pelosi and many others have said show me your budget and I'll understand your values.

The hypocrisy here is pretty astounding.

I think it's kind of disingenuous to question Democrat's commitment to IDEA when every Republican voted against that proposal.

Houston and Harris County wanted to give you and the congressional Democrats a resounding applause for allowing those direct payments to come to our local jurisdictions.

Delighted that money is being put in our pockets and shots in our arms.

We are overdue for that action.

We have got a proposal. We are working directly with the President as well, but we would love to see this bipartisan.
