Ed Whitfield is a former Republican member of the United States House of Representatives, who served Kentucky's 1st congressional district from 1995 to 2017. It is our intention to craft a pipeline safety bill that enhances current authorities and can provide greater protection for our infrastructure, communities, and the environment.
I am sure other Members of this committee can talk about the impact that pipelines have on their District.
And would you say that the tenure of that would be a violation of the Energy Reorganization Act of 1974 if you are trying to have a collegial atmosphere and provide transparency and information, what has been testified to by these people…
Simply put, the Department of Energy has failed to realize the value of the uranium tails and as a result they have already lost the taxpayers roughly $3.6 billion.
This is an important piece of legislation, and it makes a lot of sense for the reasons that I have already stated.
And at least this legislation would provide additional funding for that fund?
H.R. 2054 is a simple bill. It initiates a 2-year pilot program to re-enrich the uranium tails.
When I listened to Mr. Waxman's opening statement, he almost convinced me to oppose this legislation.
