I proudly join in a bipartisan way with the gentleman from Michigan (Mr. Camp), the gentleman from Washington (Mr. Smith), and the gentleman from Michigan (Mr. Upton) to follow through on a pledge that we have been trying to pass for almost 8 years. Mr. Chairman, I support this amendment for three reasons: One, that the House show leadership on issues of discipline and the budget. If the American people are making sacrifices to get a balanced budget, the House should take the leadership in that role.
