This is about jobs in my district. And we have seen the price increases in the last year.

A trailer manufacturer has had to raise prices 25 to 30 percent. He told me on the phone, 'I am livid. We are getting destroyed.'

Again, the tariffs start tomorrow, but they have already been felt in these industries.

What they and other manufacturers in my district have been telling me over the last year is that, while tariffs take effect tomorrow, the mere threat of tariffs has been felt already.

There is an incredible amount of anxiety in my district over the threat of retaliation.

I want you to do as best as you can for our Nation and for my district, and that is my concern.

It will come as no surprise to you I want to talk about 232.

It is hard to believe that it was just literally over a month ago that President Trump signed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act into law.

They would like to have access to more data so they know, and they are a little bit less at risk on, you know, falling into some kind of a doctor-shopping kind of a network.

Unfortunately, last year a dear friend of mine, a doctor in my district, was murdered for refusing to prescribe opioids.

Like so many of the parts of the country, the opioid epidemic has affected my district in Indiana.

The IRS structurally needs some reform and needs major change.

This is why the American people hold us accountable and we try to hold you accountable.

This is an abject failure.

So what happens now as a result of this report? Because still, what you are describing is what is happening pre-2017.

How long is a pattern and a practice? So who is your doctor here that took this to the limit and over the top?

So the filters aren't working. Whatever was done prior to January of 2017 is not working.

But obviously, the filters that you are talking about didn't catch this.

So just from your professional opinion, where do we go on this? What else has to happen?

One of the things they talk about in here is a prescriber in my home state of Indiana wrote an average of 24 opioid prescriptions each for 108 beneficiaries in a year, costing Medicare Part D $1.1 million just to that Indiana physician.

I appreciate it. And can you just give me the bottom line, 20 seconds, as you see the Section 232 as it pertains to steel and aluminum?

Myself and Mr. Kind, previously who spoke, sent a letter with 16 of our colleagues to the Indian Ambassador voicing our strong concerns, and I am happy to provide that letter to you.

But could you convey to the President, to Secretary Ross, my request that they conduct these investigations and decisions that they are making thoughtfully, thoroughly, transparently, to determine what the impact of action might be for…

I would just ask that, you know, to consider the anxiety from my constituents about the prospect of tariffs and quotas on imports.
