Madam President, terrorist violence against civilians in Israel has been accelerating in recent years amounting to what is now called the silent intifada, the term meaning ``violent uprising.'' Perhaps it is called silent because we are not paying enough attention to the atrocities that are currently taking place in Israel. The first intifada lasted from December 1987 to 1993, the second, from 2000 to 2005. This third uprising, the so-called silent intifada, began in Jerusalem in 2014. Last year, the latest intifada was characterized with a new name, ``knife intifada.'' Earlier, we witnessed media accounts of Palestinian terrorists slaughtering Israelis and others, including American citizens, by blowing up restaurants or schoolbuses or using automatic weapons. Breaking news on CNN or FOX, or whatever we were watching, showed us the scenes of body parts, pools of blood in the streets, ambulances, with sirens screaming, rushing to the nearest hospital or aid station with mutilated and badly injured victims of these attacks. Lately, though, the weapons of choice seem to be increasingly the knife. Apparently, in some ways, the Palestinians think the direct face-to-face bloody slaughter of a teenager or a grandmother by a knife-wielding thug makes it even more personal and horrifying.…
