Tammy Duckworth is a United States Senator from Illinois, serving since January 20, 2017. A member of the Democratic Party, she previously represented Illinois's 8th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2013 to 2017. Duckworth is a veteran of the Iraq War, where she became the first female double amputee from the conflict, an experience that has shaped her advocacy for veterans and military families. She has been a strong proponent of healthcare reform, women's rights, and disability rights throughout her political career.
One of the things that we haven't discussed here is the fact that these types of initiatives actually help people with disabilities significantly by creating an interconnected rail-pedestrian transportation infrastructure network.
I plan to introduce my All Stations Accessibility Program Act to help target accessibility opportunities across legacy transit and commuter rail systems.
