The United States has an atrocious record when it comes to maternal mortality.

The importance of her legislation, the Mothers and Offspring Mortality and Morbidity Awareness Act, or MOMMA's Act, cannot be overstated.

Make no mistake that maternal health in this country is in crisis.

We have a responsibility to mothers and to their families to make sure that safety and health is our number-one priority.

The Healthy MOM Act has the potential to be part of that solution.
