“One outgrowth of the Congress to Campus Program was an interest in producing a book that would take an inside look at the Congress from different viewpoints. There are many fine books written by individual Members of Congress, but to our knowledge there was no compendium that goes beyond or behind the scenes in a very personal way. So a past president of the association, Lou Frey, recruited 34 members, a congressional spouse, two former congressional staff members, and a former member of the Canadian parliament to write chapters for a book on Congress. Lou and the head of the Political Science Department at Colgate University, Professor Michael Hayes, co-edited the book, Inside the House: Former Members Reveal How Congress Really Works, which was published in March of this year.
