“Our association also serves as the secretariat for the Congressional Study Group on Japan. Founded in 1993 in cooperation with the East-West Center in Hawaii, it is a bipartisan group of 86 Members of the House and the Senate with an additional 49 Members having asked to be kept informed of the study group activities. In addition to providing substantive opportunities for Members of Congress to meet with their counterparts in the Japanese Diet, the study group arranges monthly briefings when the Congress is in session for Members to hear from American and Japanese experts about various aspects of the U.S.- Japan relationship.
