We must find a way to ensure the safety of our nation's expanding population as demands on our roads, bridges, utilities, and other essential infrastructure increase.

The status quo is clearly not acceptable.

Much of the nation's major infrastructure is nearing or has passed the end of its design lifespan.

These are long-term challenges that require long-term solutions.

We must take advantage of all the tools at our disposal.

We need to examine our approach to rebuilding infrastructure as climate change and other factors drive increases in the intensity of wildfires, hurricanes, and other extreme events.
