Speaking frankly, we need a major expansion of the electric transmission system to establish a net zero clean energy economy.

The energy sector is the second largest source of greenhouse gas emission in the U.S.

Today the Subcommittee on Energy convenes for a hearing on the CLEAN Future Act as well as other legislation to address electric transmission and the delivery of clean, reliable power.

If we are going to break that cycle, we must take this current cold deadly serious, and we must ensure that the needs of the black community as it relates to COVID-19 are taken just as seriously as well.

As I have mentioned, I am currently working on legislation to ensure that cyber attacks do not threaten our energy infrastructure, moving forward.

My bill, H.R. 3119, The Energy Emergency Leadership Act, will assign cybersecurity, energy security, and emergency response functions to a new DOE Assistant Secretary.

I think that more cohesive and consistent management of this program is critical to speeding cleanup at these sites.

We must invest in our workers and the growth of our clean energy economy.
