Bobby Rush is a former U.S. Representative from Illinois, serving from January 5, 1993, to January 3, 2021. A member of the Democratic Party, Rush was known for his advocacy on issues related to children's safety and consumer protection. He worked closely with colleagues to strengthen agencies responsible for safeguarding children and emphasized the need for legislative changes to ensure the safety of products available to families. H.R. 1315 is in essence a jobs bill designed to train underserved groups, including women, minorities, veterans, unemployed energy workers, and returning citizens.
It is my hope that following this hearing, the minority side will finally accept my repeated offers to work with my office on this bill as we move it through the legislative process.

My bill prohibits the practice of, quote, 'pay-for-delay,' end of quote, in which brand-name drug companies compensate generic drug manufacturers to delay the entry of cheaper drugs into the market.
I am proud to continue my fight to stop drug companies from rigging the system in order to take advantage of hardworking Americans.
The Protecting Consumer Access to Generic Drugs Act prohibits these Pay for Delay agreements outright.
No American should be forced to make the choice between paying their bills and buying their pills.
Someone with insurance should not have to worry about filing for bankruptcy or not having access to lifesaving treatment.
