I think it is fair to say that we will see more tension in police—between police and communities this month, next month, next year, and for quite some time.

We're not at a point yet where communities of color feel confident that their police departments are serving them with dignity and respect and equality.

This needs to be sustained.

We have to try to constructively solve them and not simply win talking-point arguments.

Look, this is what we need, more sensitivity, more training, more resources.

Because with an open heart we can learn to stand in each other's shoes and look at the world through each other's eyes.

We ask the police to do too much and we ask too little of ourselves.

I know that because I know America. I know how far we've come against impossible odds.

No country should deny people their rights because of who they love, which is why we must stand up for the rights of gays and lesbians everywhere.

Everyone was helping each other.

Let us love not with words or speech, but with actions and in truth.

The work that needs to be done is not work that just needs to be done in communities across the country, it's work that needs to be done in the hearts of people across the country.

Acknowledging the reality of the persistent racial disparities in our criminal justice system is not at all inconsistent with voicing emphatic, unwavering support for police officers.

These are men who signed up to serve and protect their citizens.

We cannot take the blessings of this Nation for granted.

No, the reward comes in knowing that our entire way of life in America depends on the rule of law.
