In the next few years, the decisions we make about how to educate our children will shape our future for generations to come.

It is morally unacceptable for our children - and economically untenable for America.

We all need to be part of the solution.

I think it's time we raised expectations for our kids all across this country.

I think the other issue, though, is he still has to talk about transparency and ethics in government in a way that makes people comfortable.

Well, he gets a pass for a while because he's going to be appointing the chief law enforcement officer, which we presume to be Eric Holder if he gets through confirmation.

The choices that we make will help determine the kind of country and world that we will leave to our children and our grandchildren.

The team that I have assembled here today is uniquely suited to meet the great challenges of this defining moment.

We can't afford complacency nor accept more broken promises.

In the 21st century, we know that the future of our economy and national security is inextricably linked to one challenge: energy.

We will make decisions based on the facts, and we understand that facts demand bold action.

They are leading experts and accomplished managers, and they are ready to reform government and help transform our economy so that our people are more prosperous, our nation is more secure, and our planet is protected.

This time has to be different.

A new energy economy is going to be part of what creates the millions of new jobs that we need.

There is not a contradiction between economic growth and sound environmental practices.

We know that we are going to create 2.5 million jobs, as I discussed earlier.

We must also recognize that the solution to global climate change must be global.

There is nothing more fundamental than having a home to call your own.

To end this economic crisis, we must end the mortgage crisis where it began.

We can't keep throwing money at the problem, hoping for a different result.

In the end, expanding access to affordable housing isn't just about caring for the least fortunate among us and strengthening our middle class.

I can't presume to know what was in the mind of the governor.

I had no contact with the governor's office. I did not speak to the governor about these issues.

I have not been contacted by any federal officials. And we have not been interviewed by them.
