Barack Obama served as the 44th President of the United States from January 20, 2009, to January 20, 2017. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously represented Illinois in the U.S. Senate from 2005 to 2008 and served in the Illinois State Senate from 1997 to 2004. Obama is known for his signature policies including the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, and his efforts in economic recovery following the 2008 financial crisis. His presidency was marked by significant legislative achievements and a focus on healthcare reform, climate change, and foreign policy initiatives such as the Iran nuclear deal.
We must regulate financial institutions based on what they do, not what they are. We must bring the shadow markets and shadow institutions into the light of disclosure and accountability.
My preference, obviously, would be to capture or kill him. But, if we have so tightened the noose, that he's in a cave somewhere and can't even communicate with his operatives, then we will meet our goal of protecting America.
I want that power. I will do what you want. I will meet your concerns that David just made about how the money is spent, where the money goes.
Look, is this an embarrassment for him? Yes. He said so himself. But it was an innocent mistake, so my expectation is that Tim Geithner will be confirmed and my expectation is that he is going to do an outstanding job.

Tim Geithner is uniquely qualified to deal with the biggest crisis that we've had since the Great Depression.

I am asking you to make a lasting commitment to make better the lives of your fellow Americans.
I am asking you to join us in that same spirit of service to others - no matter where you live.
It is only when you hitch your wagon to something larger than yourself that you will realize your true potential.
America is great not because it is perfect but because it can always be made better.
Create nearly half a million American jobs by investing in clean energy like wind power
And if you do, then I truly believe a new and better day is within our reach.
If the Security Exchange had regulated Wall Street the way we regulate teachers, we wouldn't be in this financial mess.
I believe that there is a new spirit in the country, that people want to serve.
If we are serious about reducing the dropout rate, we can't wait until 11th or 12th grade.
We should streamline the financial aid process by implementing the President-elect's proposal to allow students to apply for aid by simply checking a box on their tax forms.
If I am confirmed as Secretary of Education, I will work closely with you and with all of Congress.
Education is also the civil rights issue of our generation--the only sure path out of poverty.
I support the core goals of high standards for all--black and white, poor and wealthy, students with disabilities, and those who are just learning to speak English.
Chairman Kennedy has long been the champion of educational opportunity for all.
