And these Americans are counting on us, all of us in Washington. We have to remember that we're here to work for them. And if we drag our feet and fail to act, this crisis could turn into a catastrophe.

The so-called green jobs, also trying to make the country more energy-efficient.

This is not done yet.

Now is the time for Congress to take action to fundamentally reform and fully fund our national food safety system.

I think that the FDA has not been able to catch some of these things as quickly as I expect them to catch.

These new authorities and increased funding will certainly help FDA improve.

The journey has been long, and in the journey ahead, we will have a lot of bumps. But America must stand shoulder to shoulder with our ally, Israel.

As we meet here tonight, we know that there is more work to be done.

We could just get past the divisions of race and religion and region, if we could come together -- black, white, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, rich, young, old, poor -- then there is nothing we could not do. No destiny we could not…

Because I spent month after month working with church folks who simply wanted to help neighbors who were down on their luck, no matter what they looked look or where they came from or who they prayed to.

And it wasn't easy. You worked hard to make it happen, which means we can work hard to make sure that we have got jobs all across America and energy independence all across America.

And we will keep working to build bipartisan support for action. And I promise you that my door is always open.

I have been baptized. Believe Jesus Christ is my Savior. Never been a Muslim. Nothing wrong with being Muslim, we have wonderful Muslim-Americans. But the point is, the point is, don't lie about my religion.

I value the constructive criticism and the healthy debate that has taken place around this package because that's the essence, the foundation of American democracy.

And we will keep working to build bipartisanship support for action.

But what I have also said is, don't come to the table with the same tired arguments and worn ideas that helped to create this crisis.
