The text of the amendment is as follows: Page 8, line 9, after the dollar amount, insert ``(reduced by $100,000,000)''. Page 150, line 8, after the dollar amount, insert ``(increased by $100,000,000)''. The Acting CHAIR. The gentleman from California is recognized for 5 minutes. {time} 1730 Mr. McCLINTOCK. Mr. Chairman, my amendment simply continues the good work started by the amendment of the gentleman from Florida and pulls the plug on this tired old program. Recently, the much-maligned sequester required a 4 percent cut in the FAA budget, which its leadership then immediately translated into a 40 percent flight delay until the public rebelled. The total sequester cut to the FAA was roughly $636 million, and they took that out on the traveling public; yet they had $243 million to pay for empty and near-empty flights from selected airports in tiny communities under this program that is laughingly called ``Essential Air Service.'' It is, in fact, the least essential air service imaginable. Since we last visited this issue, the FAA reauthorization bill made some minor reforms to the program.…
