Mr. Speaker, I thank the chairman for yielding and for working this legislation through and facilitating that it comes to the floor this week. This week, the event of ``Hold Their Feet to the Fire'' is being held where many of the families of those who have been killed by illegal aliens are here to contribute. They went to the White House, and the message has been sent across the country. They have gone and done radio shows, and they have been part of this for a long time. I think of how far back this goes, Kate Steinle's law. From my perspective, she was murdered on the streets of San Francisco on July 1, 2015. It hit the news, I think, the next day. I sent out a tweet on July 3 that said it was a 100 percent preventable crime. Just enforce the law. This story will make you cry, too. And it happens every day. What we are trying to accomplish with Kate's Law is sentencing that is enhanced for those who overstay or those who have been deported from the United States and come back into the United States. I want to compliment former Congressman Matt Salmon from Arizona, who, after her death on July 1, introduced legislation only 8 days later, which was the foundation for what we are talking about here with this bill. That was H.R. 3011, introduced on July 9, 2015. {time} 1545 Matt is retired. I picked up that legislation in the first days of this year, and we have cooperated in this Judiciary Committee to get this here to this time.…
