Mr. Speaker, I was pleased to introduce this amendment alongside my colleague, Congresswoman Julia Brownley, from California. This amendment is based on our bill, H.R. 4794, the Making Advances in Mammography and Medical Options for Veterans Act. It would ensure that toxic-exposed veterans can access mammography screens through the VA healthcare system. As a doctor I know how very important preventive care is. Early detection of cancer or other serious conditions can be lifesaving for patients. Veterans deserve the very highest quality care that we can offer them, and that certainly includes timely access to mammograms, particularly for the growing number of women who are volunteering to serve in our Armed Forces. I thank Congresswoman Brownley for working with me on this amendment, and I am glad that it was made in order. Mr. Speaker, I urge all of my colleagues to support that, and I reserve the balance of my time.
