One of the first things that I did as a new Member of Congress when I was elected in 2020, in 2021, was to work in a bipartisan fashion to pass a bill because a service member from 60 miles away went to the VA in Iowa City for mental healthcare, was denied care, and 5 hours later committed suicide.
