First, I want to concur in the sentiments of my good friend, the gentleman from American Samoa (Mr. Faleomavaega) with regard to the professionalism of the staff on Capitol Hill. Prior to yielding back my time, I would like to specifically recognize the exceptional contribution of the chairman of the Committee on Resources, the gentleman from California (Mr. Pombo). The cooperation of his committee was crucial to our putting together this resolution. Madam Speaker, finally, consideration of this resolution is historically significant for the Pacific region. It provides a moment for the people of the United States and the Freely Associated States to celebrate our warm friendship and look to an enhanced and mutually respectful relationship.
