Amendment No. 941 (Purpose: To provide for a study by MedPAC on Medicare payments and efficiencies in the health care system) At the end of title IV, add the following: SEC. __. MEDPAC STUDY ON MEDICARE PAYMENTS AND EFFICIENCIES IN THE HEALTH CARE SYSTEM. Not later than 18 months after the date of enactment of this Act, the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission established under section 1805 of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1395b-6) shall provide Congress with recommendations to recognize and reward, within payment methodologies for physicians and hospitals established under the medicare program under title XVIII of the Social Security Act, efficiencies, and the lower utilization of services created by the practice of medicine in historically efficient and low-cost areas.
