We are in some very serious times with our debt, and it is on the backs of our children and grandchildren.

During SEC Chairman Gensler's watch, he has put forth, an unprecedented number of rule proposals that you have all highlighted.

The SEC has failed to evaluate the aggregate effects of these proposed disclosures on business, on investors, and on the overall U.S. economy.

These market-altering proposals have been pushed by the Chair's own agenda, contrary to any input from industry.

That's why I fought to protect critical clean energy tax cuts during Congress' debt limit negotiations and continue to fight on behalf of the biofuel industry as we craft the 2023 Farm Bill.

Mr. Chairman, I also want to commend you for your leadership on this important Committee and your efforts to steward our natural resources, reduce energy costs, and boost fuel production.

Thank you, Chairman Westerman and Ranking Member Grijalva for providing a forum for non-Natural Resources Committee Members like myself, to articulate policy priorities within this Committee's jurisdiction.

I am here to just really highlight the important role that biofuels help play in supporting countless jobs to reduce prices at the pump for Americans.

I think we all agree that's unacceptable.

To fix this, I have introduced a bipartisan ReConnecting Rural America Act of 2023 (H.R. 4227).

My home state right now is 45th in the nation for broadband access and is the second lowest speeds.

I think this Congress should have a hand in sort of dictating the future of policy in this country.

I would offer that everybody in this space ultimately ends up being a loser, at least in the U.S. market, because there is no regulatory regime.

A rogue SEC Chair is trying to expand his overreach, arguably, for maybe a specific role in the SEC ahead of this legislative body, and I find that concerning.

I mean, this is just crushing our producers in the bread basket to our nation, to the world, and it is all because of this Administration.

This, to me, is a direct attack, direct attack on our producers.

The Prop 12 ruling, I would say, it--was a poor opinion, in my opinion, simply my opinion, allowing a single state to impose rules on the rest of America.

Would EPA consider scrapping this process, restarting and working with Members of Congress to really move this forward?
