We design every farm bill in a way where we try to ensure that the men and women who drive the tractors, who get dirt under their fingernails are the beneficiaries of the payments that do come from Washington. Unfortunately, in spite of everything we try to do to make sure that happens, oftentimes it doesn't.
Senator Chambliss acknowledges the shortcomings in ensuring that farm subsidies benefit actual farmers.

I would simply ask--if someone like Abu Ghaith will not be held in military custody for interrogation purposes, then who will be?
I hope with maybe some flexibility that we're giving to all of your commands in the CR that hopefully will get completed in the next couple of days, maybe we can figure out a way to continue to utilize some of those platforms.
We are spending too much money in Washington. I don't think there's any disagreement about that.
I hope you will keep this committee informed of what you do intend to do there because, obviously, that was a lot of money to be spent.
