“I thought that Democrats on our side of the aisle made the case very well today for a more balanced approach so that some money was there, both to protect against the uncertainty of future projections but some funds there to pay down the debt more than the President proposes, some funds there for spending priorities like a Medicare prescription drug benefit and for special ed. This is an opportunity that we will lose, we will lose for years, if we do not deal with it right now, before a tax cut is passed that will just simply slam the door on the opportunity for full funding for special education.”
