We are paying for these weapons of war on our streets with the blood of our children sitting in our classrooms.

A cornerstone of this budget proposal is creating an economy that works for everyone.

In the words of President Biden, he said, 'Show me your budget, and I'll tell you your value, what you value.'

Each of us here today has an obligation to every family in this country. An obligation to give every parent the opportunity to make the lives of their children better, and their own.

Thank you Secretary Walsh, for taking the time to be with us. I would also like to thank you, and also your staff, and the administration for proposing a budget at the Department of Labor that truly puts working families first.

I can assure you, there`ll be far more numbers of people that go to the polls this fall. And this will be a policy for them that they will go to the polls on, because we have a public health crisis here.

I will do everything in my power as many of my colleagues to make sure that no one suffers unnecessarily, because this is just horrific, it is a public health crisis, and it must be dealt with.

We have to continue to make sure that we do and everything that we can to take, you know, immediate action, and just vote on measures to protect our communities and children.

We cannot be the only nation where one party sits on its hands, as children are forced to cover their faces in fear.

I know that prayers -- thoughts and prayers are not enough, I know that they are not enough.

People's lives are literally depending on these policies.

We just cannot afford these shootings to circulate in and out of our national dialogue, only to be forgotten before the next tragedy.

As I have told this committee before, and as I have told the American people before, I sadly know these parents in Uvalde. I know how they feel.

We lost 19 young children on Tuesday. 19 young babies, children with goals, children with hope, children with futures.

We, we the adults in this country allowed our children to be slaughtered because some of our colleagues in the United States Capitol... were too afraid to stand up to the NRA.

After which failed pregnancy should I have been imprisoned? Would it have been after the first miscarriage? Or would you have put me behind bars after my stillbirth?

Millions of women in America, women in this room, women at your home and women you love and cherish have suffered a miscarriage.

I want to now turn to how DHS is responding to the bomb threats against HBCUs earlier this year.

Victims of domestic and family violence have become even more vulnerable.

Diabetes is not partisan. It should not be partisan. Republicans and Democrats alike are diabetic.

I hope Republicans in the Senate will do what is needed to make life more affordable, and this drug more affordable for those families.

We are not a truly functioning democracy if, for example, our laws and practices are designed to marginalize and keep everyone from fully participating.

Domestic terror, no matter the source, no matter the target, is inconsistent with the principles of liberty and equality on which our great Nation was founded.

I hope that the Bureau will continue to work to ensure that all eight of those care topics are met, so that the health and wellbeing of pregnant women at the BOP facilities are fully protected and cared for.
